Introduction: Hacking sequences in Dispatch are timed maze puzzles that interrupt the story at tense moments. You guide an avatar through a grid to reach the exit, building paths and dodging enemies before the timer runs out. This guide explains every mechanic and the accessibility option that makes them trivial.
Table of Contents
The Basics
Each hack has a countdown shown by an orange bar at the top of the screen. Your job is to move the avatar around a grid-like maze using directional inputs and reach the end before time expires. Plan your route before you start moving — hesitation costs time.
Bridge Building
The maze has gaps you cannot cross until you build a bridge. Bridges are created by inputting the correct series of buttons, filling the gap so you can continue. Watch for spots marked with a hammer icon — those are the small puzzles that let you build (or destroy) a path.
Power Nodes
Hammer-icon puzzles show a random set of directional arrows (up, down, left, right) that you must input in the correct order. Nail the sequence and the path opens; the same mechanic is used to destroy paths or knock out obstacles in later episodes.
Dodging Antiviruses
Antiviruses are red enemies that chase you through the maze. Get caught and you restart the hack, so map your route in advance and keep moving toward the exit rather than doubling back into their path.
Unlimited Attempts
If the timed puzzles are getting in the way of the story, there is no shame in turning this on — Dispatch is a narrative game first, and the option exists for exactly that reason.
